New Works: Spring Release
Spring is a time for renewal and reinventing, and this year seems epic in proportion to recent years. Reflecting back to last spring, for many of us the pandemic has changed our trajectory. I love this piece from Poet Diane Ackerman on reinventing yourself:
"Living things tend to change unrecognizably as they grow. Who would deduce the dragonfly from the larva, the iris from the bud, the lawyer from the infant? Flora or fauna, we are all shapeshifters and magical reinventors. Life is really a plural noun, a caravan of selves."

This spring collection of abstract paintings reflect a transition in both energy and expression. The three works, Dreaming, Becoming, and Presence, were made in late winter, while we were still in the quiet but are able to feel the quickening.
As the light began to change, so did my pallet and brushstrokes. The resulting paintings Joyful l + Joyful ll began to express an upward energy with a stronger, bolder pallet, with the feeling of flowers and spring bursting through.
Lush l and Lush ll are just that, with pinks, gold greens, magentas that want to be seen. Want to be heard. Want to be known in their expression as a caravan of selves. So true regarding these two in particular, held in earlier layers are a series of paintings from when I first picked up my brush and started painting again, in late 2018. A very rich history; and even some figurative pieces have lived their lives in the paint underneath. I have some gorgeous frames available for these pieces too.
I hope this new season of spring inspires you to allow the upward flow of energy to have its way with you, and to delight in the experiences of renewal and reinvention it offers.
